Its really very simple. When the NY state filing instructions say to sign and date an efile signature authorization within one day, one expects to find the form in TurboTax pre-filled with the information TurboTax already has. Not a difficult concept yet one that the TurboTax developers seem to miss. Is it really so hard?

That sentence in the New York filing instructions that TurboTax prints is a mistake. You do not have to sign an E-File Signature Authorization when you file your own tax return with TurboTax. The E-File Signature Authorization form is used only when you pay someone to prepare your tax return for you. The form authorizes the paid preparer to e-file your tax return for you. The form is not included in TurboTax because you never use it when you file your tax return with TurboTax. The "What You Need to Sign" section of the TurboTax filing instructions should not be there. Ignore it.
Thanks. That’s almost worse.
