The numbers in the blue earnings summary section on the right side of my W2 are different than the individual boxes on the left. Which numbers should I input?

For example in the blue earnings summary, it says that the state income tax in Box 17 of the W-2 is one number (let's say $1,000), but in box 17 the number is slightly higher (let's say $1,200). Which number should I put?

You should enter the numbers shown in the numbered boxes of your form W-2 as they are the numbers actually reported to the IRS and your state tax revenue. The other numbers are internal calculations made by for your payroll department and are only included for your information.
