ANSWER: For TD Ameritrade, every document has a document ID that must be entered into Turbo Tax. So the customer has to first log into the appropriate TD website which they use (they will know which one) sign in, and where they view their forms (under My Account) they need to pull up each individual form and enter the document ID for that form. For most customers the website for TD will be : www.tdameritrade.com for others it might be www.advisorclient.com. It is according to what kind of an investment account they have set up with TD that determines which site. Also if the customer has indicated to TD that they want all forms mailed to them, they can find the form and in the upper right is the Document ID.
I was replying to an earlier post if you must know.
I have provided the one true answer to this issue. It is the last entry in this thread on page 2.
Make sure the letters are capitalized exactly as on the document, just had a customer call and that is what fixed their issue.

Importing problem still exist. Turbo tax still doesn’t accept my TD Ameritrade Document ID:
Importing problem still exist. Turbo tax does not accept Document ID from TDAmeritrade. Last year I had no problem importing. When will this issue be resolved?
thank you.
After many attempts, I followed the advice of entering the letters capitalized exactly as on the document - and with no spaces. Cut and Paste would not work for me for I manually typed it in.
Are you manually typing in the letters and numbers on the document ID? As copy-paste is not working and causes the error. @MrDuckling
Yes! Copy and paste didn't work.
Yes, I type in the account # and Document ID, it kept rejecting.
It kept giving me the alert message:
“Following fields have limits.”
”Document ID (11 characters, e.g. A12B3456CD7): Please enter the 11-character Document ID without spaces from your Form 1099 (top right corner).”
After many attempts, it still kept giving me the same alert message.
thank you
I got the exact same message multiple times. For some reason one time it finally worked. 😕
