Tax refund different than what was submitted

I was able to submit my tax return with no issue using the CD for Windows Deluxe version.  My refund says $652.  When my check came, the refund check was for $54.  When I go to the IRS site to check and validate the refund, it ask for the exact amount of the refund and I enter $652 however when the next IRS screen appears, it shows $54 was approved and sent.  Can't get through to the IRS to ask them any questions.  Is there a way to fix this?

Tks

Tax refund different than what was submitted

I researched this for you and found that if your refund was less than you expected, it may have been reduced by the IRS or a Financial Management Service (FMS) to pay past-due child support, federal agency nontax debts, state income tax obligations, or unemployment compensation debts owed to a state.  If none of these apply, then just know that the Federal Government has been very busy sending out refunds as well as stimulus checks.  This could be the reason you have not been able to get through to them by phone.  If you have not yet, you should receive a letter explaining the difference, you can respond to that letter if the explanation is not satisfactory.

@gravymama If you claimed a Recovery Rebate Credit on your return, the IRS may have adjusted your Refund by $600 for a Stimulus Payment.

They will send you a letter telling you why they adjusted your refund.
