I worked Oct, Nov, and will be working for the month of December 2024. But it looks because of paperwork, I will not be compensated until January 2025. Shouls I expect a W-2 for 2024 or will I have to wait to file until 2025 tax season?

You should ask your employer what tax year your W-2 will reflect.

It does not make sense that you will not receive a paycheck for work from October--December 2024 until 2025 because of "paperwork"-----I would be very distrustful and suspicious of an employer who is telling you that.   Better have another conversation with the employer to find out what is happening with your pay and find out when you will receive paychecks and what your W-2 will show.

Or----are you being treated as an independent contractor?   That means the IRS would consider you to be self-employed, and you would be paying self-employment tax to pay all of the Social Security and Medicare--since that is not being withheld by an employer.   You need clarity ASAP.
