For more details, there was a typo in my name on my 2022 and 2023 W-2. However, I did not file my tax with TurboTax for 2023.

CAN I USE TURBOTAX TO AMEND IF THE RETURN WAS PREPARED SOMEWHERE ELSE?

If you did not use TurboTax to prepare your tax return, it is possible to amend the return using TurboTax but it will really be a pain.  It would be better to use the software or service used to file originally.  If a paid preparer made a mistake on your tax return, that tax preparer should do the amended return for you at no charge.

In order to use TurboTax to amend your return, you need to purchase the desktop software for the tax year and re-create the return EXACTLY as it appeared when it was filed with the IRS/states.  Every line has to be the same.  Then you have to "trick" the software into thinking you filed by saying you will mail the return. (but do not mail it)   AFTER that, you use the software to prepare a Form 1040X, which has to be printed, signed and mailed to the IRS.  It takes the IRS about 6 -9 months to process an amended return

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

Thanks, what’s the process for amending my 2022 tax done on TurboTax? Is there any fee involved? I did pay a fee to report my self employment.

If you prepared with TurboTax simply reach out - you can contact us at (800) 446-8848. Note: If you're using TurboTax on your mobile device's browser, use the TurboTax Online instructions instead.

The IRS system typically allows you to e-file amended  returns for the current tax year and the two prior tax years. Amended returns for year prior to this time period cannot be e-filed. You will need to file these amended returns for older year by printing and sending them in by mail.

Here is additional information about amending:  Amending your tax return

If you did not use TurboTax you may need to replicate those tax years to then be able to amend.   Here is a link to past years products:  Past years TurboTax products

The "Live" experts do not help with amending past year returns.   Sorry.   You can ask questions here in the user forum and we can try to help.   If your only issue is the typo in your name, that is not likely to be a reason to amend.  Was the return processed?   What were the "missing items?"

Thanks. I got the corrected forms from my employer on the typo for both 2022 and 2023. What need to be amended are:

    1) My 2022 tax, I need to amend my business partnership K-1 form, but TurboTax did override typo in my W-2.

    2) As for my 2023 tax, the other tax software disregarded my main W-2 because of the typo, so its income was not reported…

Angie - I recommend getting 2022 amended first with the K-1 addition and then move on to 2023 (if you can use your 2023 other software/provider that may be the most efficient way to proceed).
