In switching from using online TT last year to using a CD for this year, fed & state, can I use my TT account info to transfer the data in last year's filing to the appropriate CD forms on my Mac?

    Yes, 2 ways.

You need to download the .tax file from online to transfer into the Desktop program.  Log into your account.  Under Your tax returns & documents, select Download .tax file (not the PDF) for the prior year you want and save it to your computer. Then start a new blank return, go up to File-New and transfer from the .tax file you saved.

Or another way is to start a 2021 Online return and transfer into that.  Then you can download the .tax2021 file from online and just OPEN it in the Desktop program.

Thank you VolvoGirl.  I printed your advice to keep in my tax file for this year to help when I get to that point.  I have routinely used a CD for this software but last year some mods made to the Mac caused it to reject using the CD; so I had to revert to using the online which I had not done before.  But good to know that this doesn't prevent me from going back to using the CD.
