Supporting Details Seems Broken

Running Premier on an iMac. Supporting Details doesn't work properly. I can add Supporting Details via the drop down but right click doesn't work. Also there is No Color indication that a field has a Supporting Detail. Once I add a Supporting Detail, I can then 'accidentally' type a different value into the field and it overrides the Supporting Detail value (instead of opening the supporting details). If I open Supporting Details again the overridden value remains.

An additional problem is if you mark a field as 'estimated' it does not appear in Red (italics) as is advertised.

Has anybody found a workaround to these bugs to. get Supporting Details to behave properly?

Right click does not work the same on a MAC as it does a PC.  So, when you right click on TurboTax Mac, you end with what seem to be MAC commands such as Look up, Translate, search with Google, Spelling and other commands not relevant to your tax return.

I am not able to reproduce any of the issues you are noting.  Please be aware that not all areas can be marked as estimates.  If you go to your W2 and mark the numbers there as an estimate they WILL stay red.  You cannot mark the numbers on your 1040 form as an estimate.  Basically, if it is a calculated number by TurboTax, it cannot be marked as an estimate. If I mark a number as an estimate on a form or line that allows estimates (numbers that are meant for user input), it turns red and stays red.

To open the supporting details, if you click on the box that you are trying to enter and then when the cursor icon shows up in the box double click, the supporting documents will pop up.  When I do this the color on the worksheet turns purple as it should.

Thanks for your response but I am in a field that does have a supporting detail transferred from my 2023 return. In previous editions of Turbotax, when I tried to type a value into a filed that had a supporting detail, a window opened which showed the supporting detail.

Now, when I type into the field, no supporting detail window opens. Instead, the supporting detail value is overridden. If I use the drop-down menu to see the supporting detail, it is still there--but when I close the window the value shown in the field does not equal the value in the supporting detail. If I change the values in the supporting detail then the field value once again equals the supporting detail value.

Double Clicking the field does Not open a supporting details window. However using Cmd-I (which is the command shown in the drop-down menu) does work.

Also, I do not get any change in color to denote that a field has a supporting detail or that a field has an estimated value. Essentially, there are no color indications whatever.

Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

    TT Deluxe here - - -

My experience with supporting details is that it seems to work for some entries, but not for others.  For example, I found that it worked properly (from the "Edit" menu - not with a right-click)  when entering property tax on a primary home, but not for property tax on a second home, for prescription drugs, doctor visits, and additional insurance.  (And there may be others - that's just what I've noticed so far).

I started my tax return several weeks in early February.  Subsequently,TT has had one or more updates.  And I had a major computer problem that forced me to reinstall TT and go back to the beginning of the entry process.  My sense is that it was possible to add supporting details three weeks ago in areas where that is not allowed today.   So it isn't clear to me whether the supporting detail problem has been present from my initial use of the program in early February, or if it crept in during an update.

And let me add - when I first start entries in early February, I was working off a 2023 return and I found that supporting details were carried over from last year.  After my computer problem, I no longer had access to the 2023 return, so there were no carryover fields for comparison.
