Succeeding Trustee / IRS Form 56

My Dad was a trustee for complex trust. He filed IRS Form 56 back when he was appointed as a trustee. He passed away in 2021 and I became the Succeeding Trustee per the Grantor's will (and I have the Succeeding Trustee Certificate issued by the Surrogate Court). TT Business has a multi-checkbox: "Tell us what changed." and the options 1) Name of the trust; 2) Different trustee; 3) Trustee's name; 4) Trustee's address. I selected "Different trustee" and then [CONTINUE] which invokes IRS Form 56. The IRS 56 Instructions do not help for my situation. Question 1: For {Part I/Section A/Authority} - do I select "a. Court appointment of testate estate" or "g. Other" and enter "Succeeding Trustee per Letter of Testamentary" w/ date certificate was issued? Question 2: For {Part II/Revocation} - is this considered a Total, Partial or Substituting Revocation?

Succeeding Trustee / IRS Form 56

It would be total since your father passed and since you were appointed (apparently) as a successor trustee (which is typically specified in the trust), then you enter that on Form 56 (as you stated).
