Stimulus

I filed married joint with 3 dependents 7, 13, 14  for 2018 filing. I owed back child support until mid 2019 so we filed injured spouse. And some was taken to pay that. Only I have income and it’s below 150k. Stimulus based on that should be $3900 but it came for exactly half, at $1950. I already called again to verify it wouldn’t have gone to child support but they said no since it’s been awhile since it was paid. Do you know what other reason it might have been half?

The only thing that the stimulus can be offset for is back child support. It sounds like that's what happened in your case. If you are certain that there is no back child support owed now, you may want to contact the Department of Treasury's Bureau of Fiscal Service (BFS) Offset Line to get details on your offset. You can contact the BFS call center at 800-304-3107, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. You will have to wait till they reopen, though.
