Doing my taxes I did the federal party it showed me my return but when I got to th state it said NY Tax Due, does this mean I’m not getting a state refund and only federal? Please explain because I’m so lost

Sorry a tax due means you have to pay the state.   You aren’t getting a state refund.   And you can’t have the state tax due deducted from the federal refund.  You have to pay the state.

If it says "Tax Due" it means that you owe tax.  It is not unusual to get a federal refund and have a tax due balance for the state, and visa versa.  Be sure that you have fully completed both federal and state.  Changes to your federal return will affect your state return, and sometimes the tax due or refund amount showing is not accurate until you have gone all the through to the end.
