Standard vs Itemized Deduction

Turbo Tax recommends the standard deduction (said $27,800) for my return. This generated a refund of $8900 ($2700 Fed and $6200 state). Using itemized deduction generates a refund of $13,850 ($6700 Fed and $7150 state). What is up with the Turbo Tax recommendation?

Well it is really off recommending a $2700 refund for standard deduction vs. $6700 return for itemized. So turbo tax must use a rule of thumb vs. comparing you actual returns both ways.
