my dad passed February 23rd 2020 and he only got total of $6000 income that year before he passed. Do I need to file his taxes or no?

he only gets money from ssi and retirement

Depends what kind of income it was.  You would want to file to get back any withholding taken out and he can get any of the first or second stimulus checks even though he died.  So that could be 1200+600.
