Someone sent me a password protected 1099.

Someone sent me a password protected 1099. It has my name on it and 2022. It says enter a Document Open Password. I have no idea whose it is or what the password is. What do I do?

Contact the issuer.

    I can't recall the issuer. It's been sitting in a folder on my computer for a couple months. I know the sender is legit and I had to open one  of these before that was legit. How do I identify the sender if I don't have an email or link to figure out who sent it?

      Was this received as an email?  Were you expecting a Form 1099?  

      This could be a scam. 

      If received as an email and you do not recognized the email address of the sender then delete the email and the attached form.
