If someone else claimed your dependents, then you will be required to file your return by mail. The IRS will follow up at a later date requesting information from both parties to support their claim.

If the children lived with her for more than half the year, she is entitled to claim them for 2016. Legal custody is irrelevant. The IRS goes by physical custody.

my kids dad mother claim two of my kids, she was not to claim them and i think she has been doing it for passed yrs. i have not done my taxes in yrs, was not working so didnt know for sure if she was doing. kids always live with me for whole every yr. she was told not to claim them and guess she still has been. i need to be able to file my taxes with all four of my kids. so how can i get my taxes to go through without getting rejected. am not gonna take the two off my taxes cuss she was fraud the IRS. name of two kids peyton and patrick fitzgerald. please help ASAP NEED TO GET MY TAXES IN ASAP.
