What do you mean "filed for you"?
Were you claimed as at dependent or did you have another person file your tax return for you?
Checking to see if someone claiming me.
If you e-file and it rejects because your SSN has been used it the only way to know, other than simply asking the other person.
my sisters husband claimed me on his taxes without my permission and i dont live with them what do i do im on disability
I filled out the non filers form for my stimulus check and it was rejected cause someone claimed me as a dependent. I shouldn't have been claimed on anyone's taxes how do I remedy this so I can receive my check

Did you file a tax return? Look at the 1040 form. Did you check the "Can be a dependent box"?
I'm on disability and my father used me as a dependent. I am not living with my parents all the time
See I'm going to the same exact thing as this person is about filing a non filers form and it getting regected for the reason that my social was on someone elses taxes claiming me as a dependant and my question was what if I didn't file a tax return because I wasn't able to I'm homeless so i had no income. nobody can claim me as a dependent, and no one has helped me or supported me with anything to even be in the right on clamining me as a dependant.. but right now that money that the stimulus check provides would be greatly useful for me to get on my feet and I cannot do that because somebody claimed me and like I said I'm homeless so my mother wasn't even able to claim me as a dependent and I'm 28 years old so how do I fix this so that I can get that stimulus check?
Can this be fixed because somebody claim me years ago and I don't know who did it
my daughter claimed me as a dependent without my knowledge or permission. When I filed a non-payer of tax with the IRS so I could get my stimulus check, I was denied because of my being an alleged dependent. I see where they cannot claim me unless I make 4200.00 or less a year.I am on SS disability and I make $19,000.00 a year. They do not pay for any of my medicines, my personal needs or clothing. They make me pay them rent of 600.00 every month. I need to get this straightened up and off their tax returns. Please advise what I need to do to get this done.
Thank you - Carol Baldon
If you cannot be claimed then just file a proper tax return and the IRS will sort it out. A person that improperly claimed you would have to pay back any refunds plus interest and penalties.
SSDI does not count toward the $4,200.
---Tests to be a Qualifying Relative (& Unrelated Persons)---
(Must meet ALL of these tests to be a dependent)
1. The person cannot be your qualifying child or the qualifying child of any other taxpayer.
2. The person either must be related to you, or must live with you all year (all 365 days - There are exceptions for temporary absences such as school, illness, business, vacation, military service) as a member of your household.
3. The person's gross income for the year must be less than $4,200 (tax-exempt income, such as certain social security benefits, is not included in gross income)
4. You must provide more than half of the person's total support** for the year.
5. The person is not filing a joint return.
In any case, the person must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. resident alien, U.S. national, or a resident of Canada or Mexico
The above is simplified; see IRS Publication 501 for full information.
