Sold silver bullion for capital gain. Dealer not required to generate 1099-b form since sale under 10k. Anyone know how I can enter that within the system with no 1099-b?

Purchased some silver in 2016 and sold it for a capital gain of about 2.5k in 2020. I understand that is entered under "collectibles" and proceeded through the "stocks and bonds" section but it takes me to a section where I have to enter my 1099-b info which has never been provided. Is there any other way to enter this into my return manually?

in search box type 1099-B

in the jump-to box double click on the 1099-B worksheet

a new window appears which asks for the broker's name - actually you can enter anything

in 8949 box use F (sales proceeds and cost not reported to IRS)

in the adjustment code(s) box you need to enter C for collectibles

in most cases even when you don't receive a 1099-B you use the worksheet to report capital gains

exceptions for home sales, installment sales and certain other types.

Somehow I did get this information entered into my return although I got sidetracked a little from your instructions. Guess there's more than one way to proceed. However, your reply gave me a starting point to successfully finish my return and for that, I'm thankful. I appreciate your taking the time to rescue me from the weeds! Many Thanks!
