in search box type 1099-B
in the jump-to box double click on the 1099-B worksheet
a new window appears which asks for the broker's name - actually you can enter anything

exceptions for home sales, installment sales and certain other types.

Somehow I did get this information entered into my return although I got sidetracked a little from your instructions. Guess there's more than one way to proceed. However, your reply gave me a starting point to successfully finish my return and for that, I'm thankful. I appreciate your taking the time to rescue me from the weeds! Many Thanks!
