I got a 1099-PATR from a solar energy cooperative. Where & how do I enter this in Turbotax?

On Turbo Tax there is a part that says home energy credits. That is where you submit your information. Hope this helps. Also make sure if you had any work done for prepping for Solar that you add that amount as well in the solar credits. Ex; Tree removal and roof repair. Good luck.

apologies....Disregard the message above. The 1099-PATR is dividends distributed. It should be reported on "Other Income" Profits from your co-op tax payer name and TIN (Tax Payer Identification number.)

To enter the solar energy cooperative dividends from the 1099-PATR, follow these steps:

 

To enter a 1099-PATR for farm or co-op dividends:

  1. Open (continue) your return in TurboTax
  2. Inside TurboTax, search for 1099-PATR (be sure to include the dash) and then select the Jump to link in the search results
  3. Follow the instructions to enter info about your farm
  4. When you get to Your Farming Income and Expenses, you will enter your 1099-PATR info in Livestock, grain, produce, custom work, co-ops enter the solar energy cooperative dividends from the 1099-PATR, follow these steps:

I tried that, but it's not a farm! It's a cooperative corporation that we bought stock in. And I couldn't find the right box to check - there were no options that fit, so I couldn't fill out the form. I tried to look up the QBI for a business, but was unable to figure out how to report it there.

 

I also did some searching on the Intuit Forum and found someone who said that if you're not itemizing your 1040 (we do not itemize any more), you don't need to report the 1099-PATR.

Your Form 1099-PATR is reporting income to you that needs to be reported.  To do this in TurboTax you can follow these steps:

 

To enter a 1099-PATR for farm or co-op dividends:

  1. Open (continue) your return in TurboTax
  2. Inside TurboTax, search for 1099-PATR (be sure to include the dash) and then select the Jump to link in the search results
