on income side your software is not recognizing non-taxable Social Security

 

on the deduction side, itemized deductions for some reason they’re not showing at the end but shows a standard deduction instead. 

how do you fix this

Non-taxable social security should not be reported on your tax return, but it will show up on the summary screens in TurboTax.   Do you have more itemized deductions than your standard deduction?   

 

Did you enter your SSA-1099?

my itemized deductions were almost twice as large as the standard deduction that TurboTax put in

my itemized deductions are the same thing that I’ve used for years for your software. They are valid.   
but at the end Turbo throws in a standard deduction way lower

You can choose whether you wish to use the Standard Deduction or Itemized Deductions as long as your filing status does not required that you use one over the other.  See the instructions in the TurboTax article below to learn how to make that change.

 

How do I change from the standard deduction to itemized (or vice-versa)?
