Our Federal Return was rejected, which caused my state to reject. I have to file my fed by mail, do I have to do the same with the state?

Fed rejected because my son mistakenly claimed the personal exemption.  We have to file by mail for the Fed.  Does that mean we also have to file by mail for Maryland?

Yes, for security reasons, states no longer accept an e-filed return without a matching federal return.  So if you are mailing in your federal return, you will need to mail your state return as well.

So I paid for a State e-file.  Does this get automatically refunded?
