I had short term loss of $46640 in 2022 but the short term losses do not show up in Loss Carry over worksheet, do you just insert the loss manually on the worksheet. Also how to calculate the alernate minimum tax amount.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You can manually enter your carryover but the figure should have transferred in when you started your 2023 return.
The AMT figure is likely to be the same as the carryover.
In TurboTax (TT), enter at:
- Federal Taxes tab (Personal in Home & Business)
- Wages & Income
Scroll down to:
-Investment Income
-Capital Loss carryover - Press Start (or Update)
If you used TT last year, the box to enter the amount may be prepopulated. But, you are allowed to change it.
@c1croft if you had other income it's likely $3,000 of that short-term loss would have been utilized in 2022 meaning your carryover would only be $43640. To check review the worksheeets from 2022 which should show the carryforward to 2023.
