Hi,
I want to paper file my federal tax return as there is a change in AGI. Which one is correct sequence of forms
1040 X -> 1040 -> schedule forms
or
1040 -> 1040 X -> schedule forms
Do I need to send form 8879?

From the IRS
Assembling Your Return
Assemble any schedules and forms behind Form 1040-X in the order of the “Attachment Sequence No.” shown in the upper-right corner of the schedule or form. If you have supporting statements, arrange them in the same order as the schedules or forms they support and attach them last. Don’t attach a copy of your original return, correspondence, or other items unless required to do so.
If none of the situations listed above apply to you, mail your amended return to the Internal Revenue Service Center shown next that applies to you.
IF you live in:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, or Texas
Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming

Form 8879 is not used when you file your tax return yourself with TurboTax, and it is not used when you file by mail. Form 8879 is used only to authorize a paid tax preparer to e-file your tax return for you. You don't have to authorize yourself to file your own tax return.
Form 8879 is not included in TurboTax because it is never used when you file with TurboTax.
When Form 8879 is used, you do not send it to the IRS. The paid preparer retains the signed Form 8879.
Thanks for response. It says Assemble any schedules and forms behind Form 1040-X in the order of the Attachment Sequence No.
There is no sequence number mentioned for 1040 so the sequence should be 1040 X followed by 1040 followed by schedule forms?
One omits Form 1040 when filing Form 1040-X.
No need to file a new 1040 since the 1040 X replaces it.
