what is the difference of self employed/independent contractor vs freelancer/gig worker.  i did not receive a w2 nor 1099 for work that i did in 2023. i was paid by way of zelle, cash app and paypal

There's no difference.  It's all self employment income.  You have to file it on Schedule C in your personal tax return.  See my answer on your other post.
