Schedule 1 1040 line 18

We didn't withdraw any funds early but have $2024 in this line. We have combed over our documents to see where this could come from but even if we add up or subtract other values nothing comes out to this.

We searched on Reddit and saw this was happening to other people with the same amount - which is significant given that it is the tax year (2024). Is this a glitch in the system and how can we fix it?

edit: thanks for the responses! it was not a mistake on our end, when we uploaded the photos of the 1099-INT, turbotax automatically scanned in the year (2024) into that line even though the box was blank.

we are not tech-y but we did finally figure out how to go back and delete the entry - it didn't show up automatically but when you expand details on the 1099-INT (we had to go through all of them), you can see the other boxes. It was sneaky hidden and didn't show up in other summaries. Annoying!! Get it together, TurboTax!

did you import 1099-INT, usually this line is penalty from breaking a CD in Box 2.  If you didn't break a CD, I wonder from what you describe whether there is some bug in one of the 1099 imports or bad data provided by a bank, which is putting the year in Box 2.  Suggest to go through your 1099s to see if anything like that happened.

If you're on TT desktop go to Forms mode and look at the Schedule B worksheet it has a summary of that column there, not sure equivalent with TT online but the PDF with all forms and worksheets may be easier to scan than online.

There are no known issues. You should be able to delete the entry.

Turns out TT scanned it in incorrectly, seems it has happened to other folks on the internet as well. Hopefully can get fixed for next year. The entry didn't show up anywhere in our summaries or listed data entries until we expanded "details".
