I successfully scanned/imported a W-2, but can't find a way to do the same with a 1099. So, what IRS forms can be scanned and the data imported?

If you have the 1099R in front of you---key it in by hand. You cannot scan it in. And is it likely too early to import it.
Usually financial institutions have the information online for you to view or print earlier than they have it ready for importing into the tax software. It is often about mid-February before you can import 1099R's, 1099B's , etc.
My question was which forms can be scanned (or photographed) and then the imported into TurboTax. I know for a fact that W-2's can be.
I am unaware of anything else that you can snap a photo of----I think just W-2's in the mobile app. Other documents can be imported---if the bank or brokerage, etc. is partnered with TurboTax to allow it. For many documents you just have to key them in.
