I am a writer who sold my books independently this year. I made $1,129 in sales but did not charge sales tax. Do I need to pay this retroactively?

I've included my book sales under "Schedule C." Is this the correct place to put them?

Sales tax payments are due to your state and are not processed on the income tax returns.  You should be able to find instructions for your state on their state tax website.  When you pay the sales tax in 2017, you will be able to enter that as an expense from your 2017 business income, on your Schedule C for the tax year of 2017.
