The return issued date on your transcript is not necessarily the date you will receive your refund. The "Where's My Refund?" tool on the IRS website provides the most accurate and up-to-date information on the status of your refund. The tool will show one of three statuses:
- Return Received: The IRS has received your return and is processing it.
- Refund Approved: The IRS has approved your refund and is preparing to issue it by the date shown.
- Refund Sent: The IRS has sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take five days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
If your refund status still says "processing," it means the IRS is still working on your return. The return issued date on your transcript is an internal date used by the IRS and does not necessarily reflect the exact date you will receive your refund.
