I had to pay more than $25K in property taxes on rental property due to homestead exemption back taxes issues. How do I claim this expense when filing?

The taxes may be claimed as an expenditure on line 16 on Schedule E Supplemental Income and Loss.

This IRS Publication, page 96 states:

The following two tests must be met for you to deduct any tax.

• The tax must be imposed on you.
• You must pay the tax during your tax year
