Rejected extension for 2023

I filed an extension on 2023 taxes. Turbotax  said accepted. The IRS has rejected.  Both were text messages. I go online to my account and don't see the form. Why?  Do see notifications there either? So what happened?

Did you make a payment to the IRS? If you made a payment an extension will automatically be filed with your payment. If you then try to file another extension, that extension will reject.

 

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Choose the year you want to print.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

When you print all government forms and worksheets you don't see your extension?

This option was not available.  I buy my turbotax software from Amazon. I couldn't finish it so I did the extension online thru turbotax tax. And yes, I ask for a withdraw from my account.

Then your original extension was accepted and the reject is from the second one trying to file.

 

It might be easiest for you to see that your extension was filed by setting up an account with them.

 

IRS Individual Online Account  

  • Taxpayers with a Social Security number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number can create or access their IRS Individual Online Account to get information they need to file their return.
  • With an IRS Individual Online Account, people can:
  • View balance owed, payment history and schedule payments.
  • Cancel scheduled payments – new feature for 2024.
  • Get transcripts.
  • View or create payment plans.
  • See digital copies of some IRS notices.
  • View key data from their most recently filed tax return, including adjusted gross income.
  • Validate bank accounts and save multiple accounts, eliminating the need to re-enter bank account information every time they make a payment.
  • View, approve and electronically sign power of attorney and tax information authorizations from their tax professional.
