My return was rejected because my son forgot to check the box that he was claimed as someones dependent on his taxes. He has since amended his return, it was accepted by the IRS. How long do I have to wait to refile for the IRS to see that he can be claimed as a dependent.

    Deacon66,

I can't be authoritative on it, but the experienced leader for an AARP site I volunteer at has been telling taxpayers it is running 2-3 weeks between Accept status and processing for refunds.

Thank you, I guess if no one knows for sure I will try again in a couple weeks

You don't have to wait at all.  Since his ssn is now in the system you will have to print and mail your return.  Even if he amends it won't clear his ssn from being used.
