The IRS is operating with limited staff as many of its centers are still closed.  Returns are still show in the status processing because there is limited to no (in some departments or centers) staff to process them. The same is true for live phone service.

It is not yet known when normal operations will resume but once they do continued delays are expected due to extensive backlogs of processing.

Your economic impact payment ("stimulus check") may be pending until the processing of your return is complete, or there could be other reasons for the delay.
