 How come this year is really fun is different than last year

Without looking at your return it is impossible to know why.

These are the most common things that effect your refund or balance due:

• Change in Filing Status;
• Change in dependents claimed;
• No longer have a child, under age 17, to claim the Child Tax Credit
• The amount of federal and/or state withholding;
• Income based credits, such as the Earned Income credit;
• Tax bracket changes

Turbo Tax says that my return has been accepted by the IRS but I have never received an email from the IRS confirming their receipt

The IRS will not send you out a confirmation, rather you can go back into your TurboTax account and when you open it you will see your anticipated refund date.  You can also download the IRS2Go app to check your refund status.
