Refund Amended

I was sent an email stating that my federal return was approved for $2500, but I only received $600 with a brief sentence stating my return was "amended" but with no explanation as to why. Can someone please help me find the rest of my federal tax return?

The IRS always checks your return for accuracy, and they reserve the right to re-work the return if they feel it is incorrect. In doing so they will adjust your refund. It seems like this is what happened in your case.

Please visit the IRS using the following link to get your transcript. This transcript will show you their re-working of tour return.  The IRS offers two transcripts: online and mail. We recommend you use the online option because it is faster.
