Recovery Rebate

IRS adjusted my recovery rebate to $0, down $1200 from the Turbo Tax calculation. Married filing jointly, SS#'s were correct, last names match correctly, income did not exceed allowable amount, did not claim 1st time homebuyer (683d).  Previous sentence addresses IRS letter saying why information was changed.  At this point, the only reason left is TT program for the recovery rebate credit worksheet is wrong.  Numerous TT posts seem to revolve around #3 and #4 on the recovery rebate worksheet.

SHOULD THE RECOVERY REBATE WORKSHEET INCLUDE CHECKING YES TO #3 REGARDLESS OF NO IN #1 AND YES IN #2?????

The way I read the rebate form,#4 should have been checked yes in my case instead of skipping to line 5 regardless of checking yes in #2 and no in #1.

HAS THIS BEEN UPDATED IN TURBOTAX SINCE I FILED IN APRIL????

What does your Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet show for Lines 1 thru 5?

Using the TurboTax desktop editions, continue the 2020 tax return that was filed.  Click on Forms.  Open the Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet located on the left side of the screen in Forms mode (Recov Rebate Cr)

Using the TurboTax online editions -

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.

This will take you back to the 2020 online tax return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

Then TurboTax correctly entered your information on the Worksheet.  If the IRS removed $1,200 from your refund for EIP1 then the issue is at the IRS.  If they did not think the SS number for one of you was correct that is why the $1,200 was removed.

Or is the problem with EIP2 shown on Line 8 where it should indicate $1,200 for MFJ if you both received $600?

If you both received EIP1 and EIP2 then Line 16 should show $2,400 and Line 19 should show $1,200.  If this is true then both Lines 17 and 20 would be 0.  With 0 Recovery Rebate Credit entered on the Form 1040 Line 30 as indicated on the Worksheet Line 21.
