Received two W2 from same employer

Good Evening,

I live in CT and work in NYC. During 2021 we were still working from home during Covid. I received two W2 from my employer, one with box 15 set to CT and another with box 15 set to NY. The W2 with box set to NY does not have box 1 - 6 filled out. It does have data on box 14, 16 and 17. My question is, do I still need to file a NY state return? Or should I file a CT state return and add box 14, 16 and 17 to my W2 from CT? FYI, the EIN on both W2 are the same and box 16 on both W2 are the same.

Yes, you will have to add the Box 15-16-17 to create one W2 entry (You cannot efile with two W2 with the same EIN).

Got it.  Box 16 are the same for both W2. Do I still combine the numbers? Or just leave Box 16 on my CT W2 as it is?

    Leave box 16 as is.
