Received 2 1099-R Forms From Social Security

Hello,

I received a 2nd 1099-R from Social Security for 2025. I'm trying to determine how I would enter the amount of the 2nd 1099-R into Turbo Tax.

I received my normal 2025 1099-R from Social Security.

My brother passed away in 2023 and I was his Estate Administrator.

My brother's last 2023 Social Security check was owed to him when he passed away.

I did receive this check in 2025 and I received a 2025 1099-R for it with his name but my Social Security Number.

When going through Turbo Tax, I could see only two ways to enter the 2nd (my brother's) 1099-R amount.

I could add the amount to my Social Security 1099-R Net Benefits total.

OR

I could enter it as a Social Security lump sum payment but Turbo Tax only allows a 2024 or earlier date for this payment. This payment was made to me in 2025.

What is the best way to proceed? Is there a different way I should be entering this amount?

Thanks.

And....by the way---- you do not have a 1099R from Social Security.   You have a SSA1099.  Make sure you enter it in the right place in the software.

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
