1) Is it the person who asks a question the only one who can mark an answer as the best answer? Or can someone else do that?

The reason I ask is it looks like the answer to a question I asked was marked as best solution by someone else and although it is a good answer I have replied to the answer asking for clarification. However I wonder if my reply will be seen and responded to if there was already a best answer designation given to the original question.
1) The original poster or a TurboTax employee can mark it as a solution. In your other thread it was a TurboTax Expert who marked it as an approved answer.

2) That does NOT close the thread. It remains open for additional comments and continued discussion/clarifications.
Additional comments can be encouraged by "mentioning" someone like this: @Questionasker. If successfully formatted as an "@ mention" that user name should turn blue. The person who responded to you in your other thread is generally only in the forum very late at night, so he may see it tonight. He should have received a notification that you had responded further in that thread. Other people may see it and post in that thread as well, however.
