Where do I find my outstanding mortgage balance?

TT is asking for my outstanding mortgage balance... My monthly mortgage statement only has 'Outstanding principal'. Where or how do I find my outstanding mortgage balance for TT?

Where do I find my outstanding mortgage balance?

outstanding principle and outstanding mortgage balance are similar terms and are used interchangeably,

Where do I find my outstanding mortgage balance?

TurboTax wants my "outstanding mortgage balance at the end of 2018".

The lender's 1098 for 2018 shows the outstanding mortgage balance as of 1/1/18, but not at the end of the year.

What does TurboTax do with the latter amount (i.e., is it critical to be exact)?

I have a  1/11/19 mortgage statement which reads:

Unpaid principal balance
(This is not a payoff amount.)
$<theAmount>

... but I don't think I can use that as an accurate amount.

Any suggestions?

thanks

Where do I find my outstanding mortgage balance?

The January 2019 statement is perfect since that is the balance at 12/31

If the mortgage is over $750,000 the interest is limited per new tax law - that is why TT is asking all these questions

Where do I find my outstanding mortgage balance?

Great to know. The mortgage isn't anywhere near $750,000, so that's good to know too. Thanks much.
