W-2

My employer has sent me a form W-2 with only box 14 entered. In the box it has  COVSKLV 511  $amount

It is for covid sick leave where I had to take time off due to exsposure. Since this W-2 was entered in Turbo Tax it says I must file by mail. Is this accurate?

If  both of your W-2 from the same employer, you can combine them and add the Box 14 value to the first W-2. However, if they are from different employers, you must enter them separately. In that case, you'll be able to e-file your return.

I NEED A COPY OF MY W-2  (or 1099)

TurboTax does not have a copy of your W-2—the Wage & Tax Statement—issued to you by your employer, (nor does TurboTax have copies of your 1099’s).   You should always save those documents for your own records. You could ask the employer(s) for copies or you can get a copy from Social Security (for a fee of $90).

If you saved a pdf of your completed tax return, the worksheets will show the W-2 information you entered, but not the actual W-2.

You can get a wage and income transcript from the IRS:  It will not show the actual W-2, 1099’s, etc, but will show the income information the IRS received.  It will not, however, show your state information. It will only show the federal information.

Or you can pay the IRS $43 for an actual copy of your tax return which will include copies of your W-2’s

You should not have to paper file your return.  However, do you have two W-2s from the same employer?

I'm asking because you should have numbers in boxes 1,3 and 5 that represent wages.  If you do have a second W-2 you can include the one with the code 14 on it.

Wages paid to employees unable to work as a result of COVID-19 are taxable wages, and are reported in boxes 1, 3, and 5 of the 2020 Form W-2.  They also have to be reported in box 14 (which is typically an optional box), or a separate statement.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I recieved 2 W-2's one with all boxes with amounts but the second with only Box 14 filled. Turbo tax says that I have to delete one W-2 to e- file. Should I just add the amount to Box one of the W-2 with all Boxes filled? How will IRS know where the additional wage is comming from?
