I am leaving Turbo Tax for an alternative. Terrible decision to remove this feature.
this is so annoying... They need to add this back... I may use a different tax product to file with, due to this missing tracker.
I am leaving TurboTax. I been an user since 2012.
Intuit needs to "follow-home" and learn more about their customers, this feature clearly was not as unimportant as it was deemed.
Such a shame to not have this available. Guessing by the end of March more people will be disappointed.
All information is put in, I went to review and it tells me that due to tax law changes information is unavailable. That is crap the tax law does not change during tax season. What is the problem?
This is exactly what I want to see in the web version and it's not showing. Does anyone know how to turn this on??? This ticker is essential as I plug in information as it confirms what I expect should happen and when the ticker doesn't behave properly, I dig deeper and find the problem (which there usually is one).
I had this exact same problem last year and somehow figured out how to turn it on after hours of research, but never wrote it down. I need to keep a cheat sheet on how to use TurboTax even after a decade+ as it's so non-intuitive at times!
Like many others in this thread I will look elsewhere going forward. I have no idea why they would have got rid of this feature.
I just did my son's taxes using HR Block and the tracker was there. This is nothing to do with laws. I am leaving the Turbo Tax.
This is very bad and sort of unacceptable, specially when the mobile app still has that functionality.
Can Turbotax put that functionality back please?
This is an example of the "**bleep**tification" of online services that has been discussed in the media. Something that worked well before, and was useful, is not available anymore. I make some complicated tax entries for Roth conversions, and having a running total is important to make sure the entries are correct. Not having the running total is a deal breaker as this may result in errors on my part.
Need to find a different vendor, as TurboTax online is no longer able to provide for my needs. Too bad, as it worked just fine till last year.
Extremely disappointing! I've been a loyal TurboTax customer for years. I guess it's time to jump ship and find a different online tax preparation program like H&R Block.
As stated in this TurboTax help article:
Instead of a refund meter at the top of your screen, you’ll see your refund or taxes due in the Federal Review section of TurboTax Online. For accuracy and simplicity, we show these totals after you enter your income, deductions, and credits instead of a running refund tracker at each step of the filing process.
This change was made for the tax year 2024 products.
Taxes are often calculated using a different method than the tax tables. For example, if you have capital gains, the tax on those is calculated at the capital gain rate for your income level. If you are self-employed, you may have self-employment taxes in addition to income taxes.
You can still preview your return before filing to find out how your taxes were calculated. See here for details. You can also view the Tax Summary under Tools on the left-side menu in TurboTax Online.
You should consider to fire your whole product design team for this. They have no idea that we, as users, need the numbers that we can see on mobile devices.
Well, I'm currently working on my taxes online through H&R Block and they have a running tally of my refund/owe amount as I enter my information. EXACTLY what I was looking for and what TurboTax should have kept. It looks like I'll be filing through H&R Block this year. I may give TurboTax another chance next year to see if they bring back the running refund/owe amount. If not, I'll continue my business with H&R Block.
Thanks for the heads up about H&R block, will definitely have to look into it. Why on Earth did TurboTax get rid of that feature?
