Turbo tax is not calculating my LSE method

That's a possible outcome, I think.

did it ask you for information from the tax returns of the years involved.

Yes, I tried two ways of entering the SSDI income. One where I put previous years entries where asked and the other way I did not include previous years. Both have same outcome.

I believe in the second case you have to cheat and  enter the total lump sum as all for the current year. Otherwise TurboTax insists on the info from previous years.

I'm not convinced TurboTax calculates it both ways for you. Maybe it does.
