what does the audit say?
if the IRS is disallowing the dependents on her return, she doesn't have to amend.
Just agree with the finding and pay back the credits, if she got them.
She never got the money. The letter said that within 30 days we would here about what decision they are making in reguards to if they are going to accept her return or not. We have not heard from then from them. Itnid going on 60 days. When she goes to Turbotax it still shows her return as being accepted and approved. However she never got the refund. It also is holding up her stimulus check. What happened is she used her W2 from the previois year!! Which raised a red flag. Now when she goes on Turbo Tax somehow they have the correct W2 in the system. But when we try to amend return it says that it must be done by mail!!! We still never have heard back. Like I said I re did my taxes opting not to claim the children JUST SO I COULD PUSH THE STIMULUS CHECK THRU. My plan worked!! However my return was only around $600 instead of $7800 which is what it will be once I figure out how to clear up this mess. I think step 1 is for her to file by mail with her correct years W2 not claiming the children. Once she does that and it gets approved then 2nd step is for me to Amend my return useing the childrens info. At that time it should reckognize that the children have not been claimed and allow my newly amended return to process!!!?????
