State Return: I am prompted repeatedly for "medical expenses". I enter "0". Prompt continues. Should I find a different expense for the empty blank?

Medical expenses entered on 1040.  AL State Tax continues to ask for medical and dental.  Is this where I enter my orthotics?

The medical expenses you entered on the federal return should flow in to the box in the AL return, on the Medical and Dental Expenses screen.  If they didn't, enter the amount you entered on your federal Schedule A.

If you did not enter medical expenses in the federal return, instead of entering a zero, leave the field blank in your AL return.

If you did not already claim the orthotics on your federal return, you can include them in your AL return.
