Thanks Critter3 I will try and get the SS number from the buyer. It is in their interest to get this right.
This info should have been exchanged at the closing along with an amortization statement since you are not required to file 1098 forms to them.
The info was there, I know I saw it. However the SS number is no longer in the file. Probably got shredded in the move to a new state.
Moving to another state at retirement age is not an easy or even a hard thing to do.
It was extremely difficult and no matter how well you plan it, it is a major change. This is from someone who lived offgrid for 20 years and crossed a few oceans in a sailboat before that.
