I transferred funds from my traditional IRA to my Roth in 2022. I've had my Roth IRA for >5y. In 2023, I transferred most of the monies from my Roth to precious metals and then decided to have my purchase sent to me instead of having it stored in a depository. When I received the 1099-R from the depository, box 7 code is "T" because they didn't know my Roth account has been open for >5y and my age is >591/2. Therefore, I'm being charged tax on my precious metals purchase. Was the error mine the way I went about the transactions or how does this get rectified?
