What does this rejected return reason mean "This return cannot be filed at this time due to a processing error that will be corrected March 13, 2026. On or after this date, open the rejected return, review it for errors, and resubmit the return for electronic filing"? Is it a system error or an error that I made? What happens on or after 13 March - will the processing error have been corrected by then? This is very confusing.

This is not an error you made, this is a processing error. On March 13, you will open your return and resubmit.
Thanks for the fast reply! To be clear, there is nothing for me to do except resubmit the form after hitting the "Fix the error" button. There are no numbers to correct or boxes to check or uncheck, correct? (my error code was F1040-478)
I have the same message. Where do you see "Fix the Error" button?
When you open TurboTax, it should be in the return status section. It will list the error and then have a button saying "Fix the problem" or words to that effect.
Thanks.
I don't seem to have the option to make an actual correction (ie, I can only instruct TurboTax to "Review again," so I will wait until March 13 and simply try to re-submit.
The instructions in my email state:
Once you’ve opened your return in TurboTax, the details about what needs updating will be displayed.
From there we can walk you through making the updates you need and help you e file your return. If it isn’t possible to e file your return, we’ll make sure you have everything you need to print and file your tax return by mail.
Thank you.
Tried that today on March 14th and am still getting the same error message with yesterday's date. So what now?
I ran the TT error check yesterday afternoon to make doubly sure that there actually weren't any errors, and then I tried e-filing again. It did work. IRS accepted the return about 2 hours later.
My strategy was to try for as many days as it took to get this filed electronically. If I was not successful after a week or so, I was just going to accept that this was going to be a paper-filed year.
