I cannot proceed with my taxes because when entering my 1099-Q I repeatedly get an error which states that the amounts in Box 2 (earnings) and Box 3 (Basis) must sum to equal Box 1 (Gross Distribution).
I am entering the exact amounts on the form, and they DO add up to equal box 1.
Box 1 1001.50
Box 2 35.31
Box 3 966.19
966.19 + 35.31 = 1001.5
What is the problem?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
The program will round 1001.5 up to 1002
Round up Box 2 to 36 and round Box 2 to 966
That is moronic, and if the software can't handle summing two-number decimals then it should have been explained on the page. I appreciate you nonetheless.
