Unfortunately, most of us have given up on TT with this problem. For me, it's the 2nd year in a row.
The only good news is that you can now just enter the totals for your gains, you no longer have to enter each individual transaction (in most cases.)
Since, when you enter your Merrill credentials, you get absolutely no message from TT, just the empty screen again, it sure seems like a TT problem.
I, for one, will be looking at TT alternatives next year.
You can get past the import issues, by manually entering the 1099-B. Search for 1099-B and use the Jump to 1099-B link. If you have a lot of transactions, you can enter your data by sales sections totals instead of individually entering each sale. TurboTax FAQ
If you are using the desktop software, Choose Skip Import. Then choose Stocks, Bonds, and Mutual Funds.
In TurboTax Online, choose Change how I enter my form and Type it in myself.
Troubleshooting 1099-B Imports - @CGregory
If their product doesn't work and they don't support it, perhaps we should partition for a refund!
I am retired, debt free, don't have W2s or other income, except SSN, and take standard deduction, so if they can't handle investments, it is almost not worth using Turbotax.
Thanks for the replies.

After spending days troubleshooting this, I got TT to connect to Merrill by changing my Merrill password a second time. I have no explanation why this works but it worked for me. A few others had posted that as a solution but I discounted it but it worked for me when I finally gave in. You've got nothing to lose by changing your Merrill password twice so give it a try.
My desktop Turbo Tax software says Fidelity will be available after October 2026! At least Fidelity is on the list. Merrill Lynch is nowhere to be seen.
trying to download from merrill is not wor
Merrill doesn't know anything about a 24 digit code?
and now I see Bank of America Merrill Sanity
That worked?
Is the Bank of America Merrill Sanity_testing an implication that they are testing to fix this problem? optimism abounds
were you able to select merrill edge as an option?
I'm using microsoft edge windows 11. what other browser would you recommend?
Third year in a row Merrill does not work in TT. I just manually entered my data again this year.
No merrill edge was not an option. I was able to use "Bank of America Merrill Sanity" to complete. Neither "Bank of America" nor "Bank of America Merrill Sanity_test" worked. "Merrill Lynch" came asking for some 24 character code which nobody knows about, go figure, maybe an AI delusion? of course the Sanity options were not there over the weekend. Sounds like TT is trying to fix things and needed to test. I had to go through all the fields to verify the 1099-div and 1099-int. The 1099-R did not download. In past years I have had to type in the 1099-R, The 1099-R stopped downloadings 3-4 years ago, Reality check= TT is software and the users are part of the test team, TT needs to pay more attention (think facilitation) to users as part of test team, like four years ago I actually broke TT and ended up working with Sr. developer with my data. Of course it took a lot of phone calls and complaints to get through. Patience grasshopper.
No. Merrill Edge is not an option for import. The only Merrill Trust Managed Account, which asks for tracking ID not on my forms.
Also, when trying to import from Fidelity, it says to try again after October 16, 2026!
According to this Merrill webpage, they were expecting to begin issuing 2025 tax-reporting statements starting January 26, 2026, and, in most cases, mail or post them to the Tax Documents section of their clients' online accounts by February 27, 2026.
I've used TT for 22 years and never had a problem getting forms dl'd from Merrill until now.
I'm trying to access my Merrill accounts to download all the data. TT keeps asking for a 24 digit ID # from "the bottom of page 1". I called Merrill and they have never heard of this ID #!
TT ai bot says I can always enter data manually...Really? Why would I buy TT and then enter Manually?
Anybody know a work arounds?
I am having trouble getting the tax forms from Merill again this year. first the Merill edge option is not showing in the options when I try to use Bank of America login and authentication getting the below error
You can ask Bank of America if you'll get tax forms this year, and return to import when they're available. If you already have the info, you can enter it by hand. (902)
