My 26 year old daughter, who was pregnant and with a 1 year old, moved back home in November. She had no job and no income. Does that qualify for any credit?

The IRS defines a dependent as a qualifying child under age 19 (or under 24 if a full-time student) or a qualifying relative who makes less than $4,300 a year (tax year 2021). • A qualifying dependent may have a job, but you must provide more than half of their annual support.

Therefore by my reading. She is not a dependent for 2021. since you only supported her for less than two month out of 12 months.  but keep your records and her earnings for 2022; sadly (or happily) you may have two dependents in 2022.

Your daughter and her child would possibly be eligible to be dependents as qualifying relatives. They would be added in the Personal Info section of TurboTax.

Qualifying relative

  • They don't have to be related to you (despite the name).
  • They aren't claimed as a dependent by someone else.
  • They're a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or Mexican resident.
  • They aren’t filing a joint return with their spouse.
  • They lived with you the entire year (exceptions apply).
  • They made less than $4,300 in 2021.
  • You provided more than half of their financial support.

When you add someone as a dependent, we'll ask a series of questions to make sure you can claim them. There may be other tax benefits you can get when you claim a dependent.
