Leaving blank items that don't apply

Turbo Tax says leave items blank that don't apply but it doesn't let me Continue when I do leave them blank.  How to I complete my tax return if Turbo Tax rejects my blank answers?

Leaving blank items that don't apply

Typically, you should be able to leave those boxes blank but if not, try adding zero and run your review to see if this clears the issue.

If this does not help, it might be easiest to delete that Form 1099R and reenter the information. 

 

Follow these steps to delete your 1099-R in TurboTax.

  1. Open (continue) your return if you don't already have it open.
  2. Search for 1099-R and select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. This will take you to the Review your 1099-R info screen.
  4. Select the trash can next to your 1099-R and then answer Yes.

Once you delete the form log out and clear the cache before logging back in.

Can you please send a screenshot of the specific fields you're leaving blank? Please be sure to black out any confidential information.

I found that you have to click on each one to show you had acknowledged it, then it will be accepted.  On one, I had to enter a fake year in to get it to let me acknowledge it.   I never got to deleting and reentering a 1099.
